Caribou, Maine – Samuela Manages, MD, FAAFP Earns Board Recertification in Family Medicine From The American Board Of Family Medicine
Dr. Samuela Manages, a long standing family practice physician with the Saint John Valley Health Center team at Pines Health Services, has been recertified in family medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM.)
Certification by the American Board of Family Medicine is maintained through successful completion of the family medicine certification process. The family medicine certification process is a continuous process that requires being in compliance with guidelines for professionalism licensure and personal conduct including maintaining a valid state medical license at all times, completing certification activities in a timely fashion, and performing successfully on the family medicine certification examination every ten years. Family medicine is the medical specialty which provides continuing, comprehensive health care for patients and their family. It is a specialty that integrates biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences.
Dr. Manages specializes in care for patients of all ages from newborns to grandparents using the biopsychosocial approach to patient care. This includes wellness and disease prevention, acute and chronic illness management, mental health management, and more. “I went into family medicine because I didn’t want to focus on one part of the body, I wanted to treat the whole individual, mentally and physically,” said Dr. Manages. “I started my career at Pines after my residency, and the certification ensures that I am keeping up to date with the latest changes in family medicine and that I can provide the best care for my patients.” Board certification is a meaningful indicator that a doctor has the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to provide high-quality patient care. Although board certification is voluntary, ABFM certification is recognized throughout the world as signifying excellence in the practice of Family Medicine.
“Dr. Manages continually demonstrates her abilities in providing the best care possible and takes time to work with our patients on a holistic level. Our patients greatly appreciate that level of personal care,” said Lisa Caron, Chief Operating Officer at Pines Health Services. “When selecting a primary healthcare provider, you want a highly qualified physician dedicated to providing outstanding care. We could not be more proud of Dr. Manages for this achievement.”
